Prayer & Liturgy
Prayer and the sacraments are central to our lives. Pupils are encouraged to encounter Jesus and deepen their faith through prayer, liturgies, services and the sacraments. Each lesson starts with prayer and weekly liturgical assemblies take place for each Year Group where the Gospels and our Catholic Pupil Profile virtues are explored and applied to daily life.
Mass (Eucharist)
Pupils at Corpus Christi deepen their Catholic faith by celebrating Year Group Masses which take place termly, and pupils contribute in activities to prepare themselves for full and active participation. As a community, we celebrate with a whole school Mass during the feast of Corpus Christi
Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to our pupils and staff during the seasons of Advent and Lent, and confession can be arranged for staff and pupils all year round upon request.
Examen Prayer
The Examen is a type of Christian meditation. It is a prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to detect God’s presence and discern his direction for us. The Examen is an ancient practice in the Catholic Church that can help us see God’s hand at work in our lives.
The method used at Corpus Christi is adapted from a technique described by Ignatius Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises. St. Ignatius thought that the Examen was a gift that came directly from God, and that God wanted it to be shared as widely as possible.
At Corpus Christi, we end every week with a whole school Examen meditation at 3:10pm giving thanks to God for our week, saying sorry for our wrongdoings and asking God to be with us for the week ahead. Please join us in our Examen using the link below:
Liturgies and Services
Throughout the liturgical year, we grow in our faith and encounter Jesus through our liturgies in our weekly Year Group assemblies, class-based collective worship, Remembrance and Ash Wednesday liturgies and our whole school Carols and Easter Service during the seasons of Advent and Lent.
